Can you get the antioxidant benefits of grapes from seedless grapes?

by admin on March 18, 2010

I have read that grapes contain effective antioxidants. I also see grapeSEED extracts for sale. Does this imply that the antioxidant chemicals are mainly contained in the seeds, or are they in the entire fruit? (try to find seeded grapes in the supermarket!)

I would assume not seeing as how you’re not supposed to eat the seeds. And that would be why you can only find seedless grapes at the store :]

From a generalist perspective yes. Many antioxidants are found in the skin. Although there are some in seeds but not a major difference. If you eat any type of grapes you are most likely getting enough antioxidants for a healthy body. The best thing to do is eat lots of fruits and vegetable not just grapes.

Too much of one thing even if it is healthy for you is not good. Moderate and eat all types of healthy foods.

Darker the grapes more antioxidants they contain. The antioxidants are in the skins my understanding the seeds also contain it as will we don’t eat the seeds. I have heard that some vitamin and mineral supplements use them
