Male Pattern Baldness. It’s Signs, Symptoms And Treatment.

by Peter Clark on October 30, 2009

The chances of balding in men are particularly high and somewhere around half of all men will suffer from balding at some stage during their life. Balding in men is usually the result of a condition called male pattern balding. What are the signs and symptoms of male pattern baldness and what are the stages of its progression?

Pattern baldness is inherited and predisposes you to advancing baldness as you age. Gradually balding in men progresses from virtually unnoticeable right through, in some cases, to severe balding. The first sign of male pattern balding is a receding hairline.

Often the man is experiencing thinning hair on the crown of his head however at this stage this is unnoticeable whereas the receding hairline will become noticeable. As the receding hairline progresses it will become quite clear that the man is suffering from some form of advancing balding and at this stage it may also become noticeable that he is developing a bald spot on the crown of his head.

This then, in most cases of male pattern baldness, increases to the point where the baldness on the crown develops to complete baldness and the receding hairline advances to join the bald spot. Gradually complete baldness over the top of the head develops.

For many this then continues to the point where he may have total baldness on the top of his head and perhaps even continue until he has merely a horseshoe of hair around the back and sides.

This is a description of the general progression and signs of male pattern baldness. Whether whether it applies to you if you have the condition is unknown until it develops fully. Many men suffer much less from baldness than what is described or suffer from baldness in a different progression or pattern. However this is a fair description of the general process of male pattern balding.

The actual mechanism by which male pattern baldness causes the hair to fall out is known. A male hormone called DHT restricts the ability of hair follicles to absorb nutrients and the hair follicles shrink causing the hair to weaken and die prematurely.

Fortunately there are now FDA approved hair loss treatments. There are 2 treatments approved for men. One of these is called minoxidil which operates, so it is thought, by increasing the blood supply to the hair follicle. This allows the follicle an increased supply of nutrients thereby reversing the nutrient deficit and this is thought to be the major effect of minoxidil at affecting hair regrowth.

Minoxidil on its own seems to be effective but a more effective approach is to include a range of essential hair nutrients combined with minoxidil which means that those nutrients will be available in the blood supply.

Finasteride which is called Propecia also works to improve hair growth however has been shown to have some side-effects in men including to limit libido.

Both products work but neither work for everyone and is important to understand that you need to use the products for at least 6 months and preferably 12 before you can decide if they are working for you.

There is a successful hair regrowth treatment for male pattern baldness. Minoxidil combined with essential hair nutrients seems to be the most successful hair regrowth treatment on the market for cases of male pattern baldness. To find out where to get it visit my website.

I was rationalizing on this topic last evening and I decided to search the web for some info. Your blog came up in my search and I’m impress what you have written on this topic. As I’m currently expanding my research and thus cannot add further, however, I’ve bookmarked it and will be returning to further comment. Like I said, love this comment and will be back before long.

Yup, couldn’t agree more. And I’d like to add that you’ve got a great colour scheme on your site, I suffer with colour blindness and many webmasters don’t give us a second thought!

I just stumbled accross your blog by using stumbleupon and love the design of the whole thing! I normally skip straight past blogs as I have over 20 in my RSS and dont even have enough time to read the ones that I have! I am started out as a blogger myself and always tried to keep the design simple like yours as I think it is crucial, especially if you can back it up with some nice pics like yours! Keep up the good work! Cheers!

Tremendous post you have scored here! The web is overflowing of horrid writing and I was grabbed by your limpidity. Your closings are exact and I will straightaway subscribe to your rss feed to remain up to date with your up future day postings. Yes! I admit it, your authorship style is special and I will work harder on mine.

I found a web site is China that sells those fish oil capsules that take care of the fatty acids. I am not sure that they are healthy to eat but I am tempted by the cost. Any suggestion how to have better control over the food safety of my diet supplements?
